Where It Started…
My mother, an international flight attendant with Braniff airways, would spend hours detailing her
travels across the world. From exploring the streets of Hong Kong, throwing her coin into the
Trevi Fountain, to cheering on the cliff divers of Acapulco; I too craved to have these life
experiences.
I was going to travel the world by the time I was 25!
However, life kicked in, it got busy. I graduated from Texas Christian University with a
bachelor’s in nursing and have worked anywhere from Trauma ICU, Neuro ICU, Transplant to
post-surgical recovery. For over 13 years, I made it my life to care for others in their most
vulnerable state. At the same time, two wonderful children joined my husband and me. After
a couple of 9 hour night flights to London with sub 1-year olds, it became harder to pull the trigger on big trips.
I was one of the lucky ones though. I quickly realized I had made a mistake not powering
through. If I didn’t make it a priority to see the world, then my story would be too short, too dull
and I wouldn’t become the person I knew I wanted to be.
are getting on the next airplane. Our life and our goals as a family are aligned. We have
learned to Ski side by side on the bunny slopes of Colorado. We laugh about the soggy socks
we earned walking the rainy cliff tops of Wales. We look forward to learning to surf on the
beaches of Costa Rica.
